Day 1 results - Albury
Boys1 defeated Albury 39-41
We played a team which was an under 14 Rep sprinkled with under 16 players. With one of the under 16 boys demonstrating his dunking prowess which only served to intimidate the boys more. The team trailed by 10 points for the first 2 quarters until they raised thier intensity inspired by Lachie's defensive efforts. The boys worked out that by spreading the floor they could take away the big boys advantage. They scored a three followed by some twos which levelled the game. Tim went to the free throw line sinking 1 from 2, defence held for the last 15 seconds to secure the win. The boys all played well, but have the battle scars to show for thier efforts. Keeping our physio Tim Atkins employed.
Boys 2 defeated Albury 2 42-37
Good solid first game, Jodeci played well in defence, whilst Dhanesh pulled off one of the best pass fake and lay ups in Sabres history to push the boys forward to a comfortable win. with Antonio on fire, showing off his smooth silky moves in which coach Dave wishes he did more on Friday nights.
When the boys stepped off the bus at Albury they had no idea they were playing against a team of Dwight Howards, thought they played galantly through the rough start to claw back into the lead and get thier thier first "W".
Girls 1 defeated Albury 1 29-36
The girls got off to a slow start, but after half time they seemed to come out of nowhere. Izzy and Sarah stepped up for a game with first team and slotted in seamlessly. Bec Halprin shot 10 points and Rachel 12 points leading the girsl to a 7 Point lead. The opposition team had a lot of height, as they do when they are under 16s.
Girls 2 lost to Albury 2 33-36
Fronting up against another set of talls (some from the number 1 team) the seconds went into the game holding thier opponents at bay until the second quarter. Some stellar shooting in the third quarter by Chrissy (8 points and Amy (6 points) brought the team into the lead. The girls are all looking forward to the squad game in Canberra, which will give Coach-Treasure a chance to see how the players can work together.

Only 4 more sleeps
With only 4 sleeps until the road trip, plans are all pretty much confirmed with the itinerary being subject to change if neccessary. The most important thing to remember is that all players need to be at the King club by 10.00am on Wednesday. We plan to depart by 10.30am.
The next most important thing is not to forget your uniforms, after all you are going to be playing basketball.
More updates as they come through.
